GARDEN SANCTUARY
The Lady’s bedroom in this Queen Anne Victorian needed a makeover. The fine collection of heirloom antiques, handmade carpets and original artwork, dictated the traditional styling. Inspired by the home’s profuse gardens, a cabbage rose chintz fabric seemed an appropriate starting point. We paired the exuberant print with berry red silk draperies that offered privacy and elegance.
Wallpaper was not an option so we painted the plaster walls a vibrant periwinkle blue. To contrast the original dark woodwork a simple white crown molding was installed and an old ceiling fixture replaced by a glittering chandelier. The fireplace created a natural seating and dressing area. The goal was to infuse the room with a youthful femininity while staying true to the historic nature of the home.
